It Started With a Need

Fifteen years ago, I was simply looking for something that would be gentle enough for my incredibly sensitive skin.

I tried product after product, hoping to find something that would actually work for me. Even products marketed as gentle, including synthetic baby soaps, left me feeling frustrated and defeated.

Then I decided to try something different: I would make my own.

I began learning about soap making and experimenting in my own kitchen with adjusting ingredients and recipes through plenty of trial and error. Eventually, I created my first bar of soap and for the first time, I had made something my skin truly loved.

That moment changed everything.

From One Bar of Soap to a Passion

I didn't stop with soap.

I started experimenting with lotions, body butters, and other ways to care for my skin. Over time, I discovered a simple approach that worked beautifully for me, and I became passionate about creating products that felt nourishing, comforting, and gentle.

Naturally, I started sharing what I made with friends and family.

Their response meant everything.

They loved the products, came back for more, and began telling others about them. What started as my personal search for better skincare slowly grew into something much bigger.

15 Years Later...

Today, that same passion is at the heart of every product made at Chicago Soapery & Apothecary.

I understand the frustration of searching for skincare that feels right because I've been there myself. That's why I put so much thought and care into what goes into each bar of soap, lotion, and body butter.

Every product is made with the same attention to detail that started this journey fifteen years ago one batch at a time, with quality and care in mind.
